REmoved bandage, sutures all intact. Applied TAO to suture line and pin sites but left uncovered. Replaced fabric wrap on right wing. Gave fluids split between both inguinal areas, gave med IM and orally. Dropped 154g venison LRS SQ: 120 cc (LRS) SQ Clindamycin: 1 capsule (300 mg capsule) PO Enrofloxacin (Baytril): 1/2 tab (136 mg tablet) PO Fenbendazole (Panacur): 0.80 cc (100 mg/mL Suspension) PO Terbinafine: 0.19 Tablet (250mg tablet) PO Gabapentin: 0.35 cc (100 mg/ml compounded) PO Tramadol Low Dose(5mg per kg): 0.64 cc (25mg/ml Compounded) PO Pentoxifylline: 0.96 cc (50 mg/ml compounded ) PO Liver Support Mix: 1.22 cc PO Vitamin B Complex: 0.10 cc (100 mg/ml) IM A: BAR, processing clean meat. Tolerating wrap well, ESF intact. P: Rx DMSA twice a day for 5 days, then repeat lead test.

Removed necrotic bone from the ventral aspect of the distal metacarpus, opened up metacarpophalangeal joint to perform arthrodesis, then placed an ESF across the joint space. Bird was unstable throughout procedure and needed multiple rounds on atropine. Recovered slowly but uneventfully from anesthesia. O: ------------- PHYSICAL EXAM FINDINGS ---------------- Mentation: BAR Temp (F): 107 Dehydration (%): 6 Heart rate: 180, no murmur, NSR Resp rate: clear lung sounds Neurologic: BAR, biting Head/mouth/beak: WNL Ears: WNL Eyes: visual OU, fundic WNL OU Wings: L wing feels lax and seems to droop but no creptius or luxations felt; R distal metacarpus fracture, healed hole through wing under bone, small piece of exposed necrotic bone or tendon on the ventral distal aspect of the wing Legs: WNL Feet: WNL Body: very large old cranial keel fracture; crop full of soft/liquid food, ventriculus feels full Feather condition: missing inner R primary feathers, blood feathers coming in on the distal R wing - some at the site of the previous wound on the wing Ectoparasites: none seen Radiographic findings: crop full, ventriculus full, R wing distal minor metacarpal and phalange have bony changes (previously healed fracture), no abnormalities seen on L wing. Gave 0.35 ml torb IM. Drew blood from the R medial metatarsal vein. Placed wing wrap on R wing. A: Emaciated eagle with previous trauma to the R distal wing - suspicious of old gunshot injury that has healed over but cannot confirm. Prognosis is very guarded but will try to assess viability of wing and bone under anesthesia tomorrow. P: Plan for surgery to debride necrotic tissue on distal R wing tomorrow and see if there is any chance for repair. Rx terbinafine, liver support, clindamycin, tramadol.
